Plans for 2007 and General Observations

My current plans for next year is a re-building year.  The white stand that the sleigh display sets on did not handle the off season very well.  The stand was placed under a leaky roof, so that some of the white paint is wearing off and in a couple of spots the plywood is separating.

Also, the 2x2" boards used for the frame are loosening up.  With the narrowness of the 2x2s, I was only able to use one screw and the 2x2s are beginning to easily spin on the screws and no longer can be tightened.

I'm thinking of building a new frame out of PVC piping and a flat top of Plexiglas.  All of this can be assembled with nuts & bolts and easily disassembled at the end of the season.

I am planning on locating a fully functional Candy Cane stake light set, unless I can figure out how to repair/replace the rope light string inside the bad light.

I will also be reworking/improving the box on the sleigh, possibly mounting the light through the bottom of the box.  Or I may go with either mini-light strings with a blinker bulb or some sort of rope light string.  Either of these will be done on some sort of framework as opposed to dumping in a jumble of lights into the box.

Also I will invest in a more expensive metallic mesh bow made that can be cable tied to the box, so the wind cannot tear it away.

In future years, I see only two areas to expand upon: first, the new display with the 3-foot tree and Angel.   Secondly, I can begin to design a display for the roof of the house.  I have an extension ladder and I'm not afraid to use it.
